Jess is struggling with two major issues in her life: she is bullied at school, and her father has moved out of their home because of a drink problem. When their landlord threatens them with eviction it seems things can’t get any worse. Then one day Jess’s mum receives a surprise letter from her Auntie Joan, inviting the three of them to live with her in a quaint cottage in the Kent countryside. Jess resists the move at first, but when she joins the village church youth club she begins to make new friends, and finds more changing in her life than just her home.
